NCMA Certification

NCMA offers three professional certifications and a Certificate for career minded acquisition professionals, who wish to improve their skills, improve their value to themselves and to their employers. The three certifications offered by the NCMA are:


Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM)

A certified federal contracts management certification demonstrates that you are knowledgeable about the practice of contracts management in the federal environment.

Eligibility for the CFCM requires a candidate to have a degree at the bachelor's level, one year of experience, and 80 hours of continuing professional education.

Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM)

A certified commercial contracts management certification demonstrates that you are knowledgeable about the practice of contracts management in the commercial environment.

For the CCCM, a candidate must have a degree at the bachelor's level with one year of experience and 80 hours of continuing professional education.

Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM)

A certified professional contracts management certification demonstrates that you are knowledgeable about all facets of contracts management, both within the government and commercial environments.

For the CPCM, a candidate must have a degree at the bachelor's level with five years of experience and 120 hours of continuing professional educations.

Certified Schedules Contracts Managers (CSCM)

The certificate program for Certified Schedules Contracts Managers (CSCM) shows that you are knowledgeable in Federal Supply and Multiple Award Schedule contracting.  You will learn to navigate the complex system of creating and maintaining Schedules and mastering all elements of Schedule audits.  (See National website for requirements).

Exam Format

The CFCM and CCCM examination modules consist of 150 multiple choice questions focusing specifically on the Knowledge Module applicable to each certification.

The CPCM examination consists of 180 multiple choice questions requiring knowledge of the Federal, Commercial and General Business Knowledge modules.  Contract Principles (25%), Contract Planning/Strategy (20%), Specialized Knowledge (15%), Contract Admioinistration (15%), and General Business (25%).

Exam Schedule:  Examinations are available continuously locally in the Denver area, five days a week,with some centers having evening and weekend hours.  In some instances, the local Chapter can arrange to proctor an exam.  Also, National offers the exams at the major symposiums and conferences.

As an incentive, the Denver Chapter will reward members, who become certified by reimbursing 50% of the individual's out-of-pocket costs, not to exceed a lifetime total of $500 per successful applicant (taking into consideration the total cost for CFCM, CCCM, and CPCM).  Certification reimbursement is subject to the availability of funds, which shall be determined at the discretion of the Denver Chapter Officers as needed during each program year."
