Happy New Year Denver Chapter!

I want to thank last year’s Board of Directors and the Board of Advisors for their commitment, their vision and their work.  As we are about to kick off the new program year here in the Denver Chapter, let me assure you we are in for some good changes.  One is that Steve Peck is the new Chapter President.  He was involved in very interesting discussions at our Chapter Board meetings last year during which Board Members generated extremely good ideas that may get started this year.  I don't want to steal Steve's thunder of course, so let me just say that the Board discussed how to create more quality educational and job related learning opportunities for our membership, for our commercial contracting professionals as well as government contracting professionals, for beginners as well as more seasoned professionals.  Things don't always happen as fast as I would like and I feel little progress was actually made last year; ideas get generated one year and implementation takes a year or two, but at least they are in the works.  Please greet changes with enthusiasm and do what you can to help.  Good changes are coming and all of us can benefit from them.  Happy New Year!

Sandra Lintz, President Emeritus

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:

Every year, the Denver Chapter NCMA elects members to serve on the Board of Directors.  Last year I was elected to serve for three years, one year in the position of President-Elect (last year), this year in the position of Chapter President, and next year as President Emeritus.  Board members are elected to terms and their job is to set the direction of the chapter and oversee the performance of the organization. The Board term begins on July 1st each year; the incoming Board is listed in this newsletter.  The chapter work would not get done if not for the numerous volunteers that make the work possible.  I look forward to working with this year's volunteers for the program year.  All members are encouraged to share their thoughts, ideas, interests and feedback about the chapter with any of the Board members.

Many Thanks to our long time Chapter Sponsor, McKenna, Long and Aldridge, LLP.  Chapter sponsors are an important catalyst for our continuous chapter improvement.  The financial resources these sponsors give provide a strong foundation from which the Denver Chapter can expand its services and try innovative things to enhance the value of the chapter for our members.  Keep reading this newsletter from month to month to be up to date with what is happening with our chapter sponsors.  If your Company is interested in sponsoring, please contact our Corporate Sponsor Chair.  We have many open opportunities to sponsor this year.

Chapter Meetings for the new Chapter year will begin again in September.  Please feel free to contract our Program Chair, with any ideas or suggestions for Speakers.

Steve Peck, President

As reported during the last Chapter year, Past President, Darlene Gonzales, was activated earlier this year with her Naval Reserve unit and is now deployed to Afghanistan for approximately the next year.

Darlene’s MySpace account has been closed due to security reasons. So you can just email her at this address dmgonzales@viawest.net.  The Chapter sends their collective best wishes and thoughts for her well being and safe return for Darlene and all who are deployed serving our Country.
