Special thanks go Jenna Masiello, our then-and-now website chair, for their excellent work that accounted for extra points being awarded for quality. And, of course, all of the work performed by all our volunteers would have not been recognized without Stacey Gustus, our ever-dedicated Chapter secretary, who coordinated the preparation and submittal of the Graalman application. Her professional work to create an outstanding presentation to National of the Chapters many accomplishments during the Program Year was the primary reason for the Chapter achieving the Silver banner for 2007-2008.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

NCMA is looking for volunteers to help during the upcoming World Congress, April 5-8, 2009, in Long Beach, CA.

The ideal candidate will:

 Have a positive attitude

 Work well with others

 Be a current NCMA member

This is an opportunity for individuals to participate and contribute time to their professional association.Volunteers at past events have found the experience to be rewarding and fun.

There are a very limited amount of volunteer slots available (that number has been pre-determined and is fixed).

Members wishing to volunteer will need to send an e-mail (include name, e-mail address, phone number and chapter name), to Rita Rose at rrose@ncmahq.org <mailto:rrose@ncmahq.org>by January 31st. NCMA will compile the volunteer list, assign tasks and notify those volunteers selected, in the last week in February. There are no guarantees in the selection process.

The volunteer positions are on an individual basis and may not be shared.

In exchange for individual volunteer support of the conference, those selected by NCMA may attend the conference at no cost.In more detail, this is how this works:

In exchange for 1 full day of work, we will extend a complimentary Congress registration to all of those volunteers officially notified by NCMA that they are on the accepted list. Those who receive an assignment will agree to work the day, time and task that is assigned to them.If they are unable to work one entire day, and on the date, time and task assigned, we will offer that position to one of our waitlisted volunteers.

Not included in the complimentary registration are the CMI Golf Tournament, the Gala Dinner, the Post-conference workshops, or any special events. Should a chosen volunteer wish to register for those events, they can do so after receiving the volunteer email confirmation that will be sent out around the end of February.Payment for those functions must be included.

NCMA does NOT cover personal hotel, travel, parking or other expenses.

If you have any questions. please contactRita Rose at rrose@ncmahq.org <mailto:rrose@ncmahq.org> .

We look forward to working with our volunteers and members from across the country. Please remember deadline to submit names is January 31st.

Monthly Meetings

JANUARY Monthly meeting was held January 13th was Steve Scott Steve is a Contracting Officer at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory with the Department of Energy (DOE).He has several years of knowledge and experience that he will be sharing with us on January 13th.

Steve has a fascinating topic that he will be discussing. He has been working on a very unique, one of a kind contract to build and implement a 1 Mega Watt solar field here in Colorado. This is a very interesting contract because it involves a three party agreement where the Department of Energy is purchasing nothing more than the energy produced by the solar panels.Spanning a 20 year period, this contract allows the developer to obtain cash flow from 3 separate streams.Steve will also be discussing the use of Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC) as well.Matt Gomer, Programs Chair, had had the great opportunity to talk with Steve and can tell he is very excited about this new and innovative way of contracting. We are convinced that anyone involved in the field of contract management will be exposed to a plethora of valuable information and ideas that you will be able to take with you and implement in your own organizations.

Our February 10th monthly lunch meeting is a topic that comes very highly recommended not only by the NCMA Denver chapter board of directors, but also by NCMA HQ and our board of advisors as well.It is a topic that truly affects everyone from the novice in the industry to experienced management personnel in every organization.I am proud to introduce Laura Hahn an expert in organizational development from

Nestlst1:PlaceName> University.Laura will be speaking on the topic of generations in the work place. She will be discussing three main objectives that are pertinent when trying to understand organizational culture. They are:(1) how to identify the different generations in the workplace; (2) how to recognize and distinguish the major differences between the generations; and (3) understanding what to consider when recruiting and retaining personnel. In order to better understand the three generational issues above, one must be able to identify the multitude of various traits that make up the different generations. What is important to each age bracket in terms of:work values; attitudes; what to consider when providing feedback to the different generations; what kind of rewards each generation is looking for; what are the different motivators across generations; how the generations manage time; and what leadership styles each looks for.
